The challenge

This one started with a conversation at an A&P Show. The clients weren't planning to build at the time. They simply liked what Lifestyle Builds stood for.

When circumstances changed and they bought a section in Methven, they got in touch. The brief was a country-style shed home with generous garaging, great outdoor living and uninterrupted views of Mt Hutt. The budget was fixed from day one. The site also sits in an extra high wind zone, which brings engineering and construction challenges of its own.

Our solution

Working within the agreed budget, we designed the home around what mattered most. The layout puts the mountain views first, with the bedrooms, three garages and practical living spaces arranged around how the clients actually live.

Through construction we kept reviewing the design and our build methods to limit the effects of the wind and hold the quality where we wanted it.

Inside the garage: steel purlins overhead, plywood-lined walls and a kitchenette along the back wall

The result

The finished home is exactly what the clients pictured. A warm country home with outstanding views, generous storage for their lifestyle, and a building with as much character as it has practicality.

What the client said

“They gave us choices, recommendations and always listened to our ideas. Having such a good team of subcontractors gave us a reliable, well-managed build. They handed over a home they're genuinely proud of, and so are we.”
